Vegetarian-Hindu-An Analysis
Lot of heat has been generated recently in spreading, rather forcing of an idea that all should be vegetarian. The idea escalated with the spread of COVID 19 pandemic which is said to be started with a bird to animal transfer with eating of bats, probably semi or non cooked, in the vet market of Wuhan, China.
There is always an advisory by sects that Hindus should be vegetarian and shun all sorts of you have to be a non veg food! Is it Correct?
A SURE NO.
Vegetarianism is mostly a geographical phenomena or a phenomena driven by a cult, a small community lead by some person or believing in some person.
Basically, Hindu has to be Vegetarian is a concept reserved for followers of Arya Samaj, followers of few of the Vaishnav sects and their variants like ISKCON, the Brahmins of North Indian Plains and also of major part of South India.
Practically, the Vegetarian Hindu is a minority among Hindu.
Some religions, who have parted away from Hinduism but still retain their affiliations are Jain, who are mostly vegetarian. Others, like Sikhs, Budhhists, are not strict vegetarians. Among Hindus, except Arya samajis, non-brahmans are not vegetarians. And once we move geographically any side of India, we see the practices of food as also worship change drastically. Now, if persons like enforcers of the so called Moral Code of no-meat food want to impose their personal preferences of food, they will not be uniting India or Hindus but they are really fragmenting India and Hindus.
Lot of hue and cry has been raised time and again about reduction of Hindu Population and conversions. If the Contractors and Powerful Agents of the religion cannot ensure justice and participation to masses then it does not retain rights to retain the masses in its religion.
For example, the current scene of Muslims be thrown away from Africa in hoards and given shelter in Germany, if a considerable population of them convert themselves to Christianity, then it is not the Christians or the converting population, but the Muslim leaders who forced them to flee their homes and hearth will be wholly and exclusively responsible.
Same has been the case of conversion of Hindus to other religions. The so called Agents of God have tortured and ignored the existence of masses for too long and once they found right to enter a church or a mosque as supposedly equal human being, they certainly opted for the religion which welcomed them and left the one where they were prosecuted and dehunamised because of their lack of social power.
With the imposition of the Vegetarianism as a forced identity of Hinduism, the Agents, (and unfortunately many of them having access to the current Government) are contributing to further fragmentation of society and actually will lose votes of Government even if it succeeds in achieving the agenda of the development.
Whether a person eats Cow, Pork, Goat, Chicken, Toad, Spinach, Bitter Gourd, Neem, Potato, Onion, Garlic, Brinjal, I do not understand how it does it matters to the Government and self appointed agents of the God.
GOD IS NOT A PATENT OF THESE SELF APPOINTED AGENTS OF THE GOD. AND WHAT I EAT IS TO BE DECIDED BY ME, ON THE BASIS OF MY AFFORDABILITY, MY FAMILY CUSTOM AND DIET CHART IF I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH HEALTH. I WILL NOT ALLOW ANY SELF APPOINTED AGENT OF THE GOD TO INTERFERE IN MY KITCHEN AND THE LEADERS SHOULD BE TOLD THIS VERY CLEARLY.
